Dynamips and Dynagen with Windows XP

October 10th, 2007 by Alex

I know this blog do not deal with Microsoft products, but some of you want probably know how to install Dynamips and Dynagen under Windows XP.

The best way is to…

1st : install winpcap first which will be needed for dynamips.

2nd : Go to the Dynagen official website : http://dynagen.org/

Click on the “Download” heading. You will be redirect to the sourceforge website and Choose the “Windows Installer Package”

Download it and install it like a normal Windows program.

At the end of the installation, you will have two shorcuts on your Desktop , named “Dynamips Server” and “Network device list

I let you know what for is the first one, the second one is to learn your network ID devices , to map them to Dynamips emulated router.

Verify if dynamips and dynagen are functioning properly by launching “Dynamips Server” and by creating an empty test.net file and double-clicking it.
